Andrei Zmievski Comes to CodeWorks

CodeWorks 09 has successfully kicked off, and we'd like to announce that Andrei Zmievski will be joining us in the latter part of the tour! Andrei brings his vast PHP expertise to the CW schedule, and is an important addition to our lineup. Andrei will be at the Atlanta, Miami, Washington and NYC locations. We're glad to have you aboard, Andrei!

Andrei Zmievski has been developing and tinkering with web-accessible software for more than a decade. He is a well-known personality in the PHP community, where his accomplishments include being a long-time core developer and member of the PHP Group, the author of PHP-GTK, a co-author of Smarty, and the architect and lead developer of the Unicode and internationalization (i18n) support in PHP 6.

Andrei enjoys learning new things and sharing what he has learned. He is a frequent speaker at web conferences around the world such as OSCON and International PHP Conference, a co-author of the PHP Developer's Cookbook, and is also a well-read blogger at zmievski.org, where he writes about PHP and other topics.

Some little known facts about Andrei:

  • His twitter nick is simply "a" which results in him getting lots of "sitting @a bar" or "eating @a restaurant" mentions.
  • He is a native of Uzbekistan and came to the US to study when he was 16 years old.
  • He is an avid beer brewer and his homemade brew is award winning.
  • He recently became an official US citizen.
  • His unicode t-shirts are a big hit with il8n fans.

We are thrilled to have Andrei with us for the second half of the tour. He will be speaking on VIM, Regex, and distributed systems with PHP. You will not want to miss these!
